I Never... ~ Prompt #060

Title: I Never...
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme
Prompt: Drink
Word Count: 699
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Here's what happens the first night the gang spends on Tatooine.
Author's Notes: Because they have this drinking game in the GFFA *sage nod*

----------

Obi-Wan couldn't sit still any longer. He had to get out of the ship or go mad. He didn't care that the twin suns had set an hour ago, nor did he care that he may run into Qui-Gon. It was fairly easy for him to escape, too, since all he had to tell Panaka was that he was heading out to do a perimeter check and that, no, the Captain was not needed, thank you very much.

The native garb felt strange, but the reassuring weight of his lightsabre made him feel better. It was a twenty-minute walk into Mos Espa, and it only took him five to find an acceptable place to get a drink. He gave the interior a good once-over, noting where each patron was and cataloguing each by species, hidden weaponry and level of drunkenness. As his eyes swept the room, one figure stood out like a flaming beacon. The young Jedi blinked a few times, uncertain he was actually seeing her.

Padme. The Handmaiden.

She was twirling a glass in her hand slowly, staring into its depths as if the secrets of the universe would spill out of it at any second. The glass clattered noisily as she gasped in surprise when Obi-Wan slid into the seat across from her.

"Madam," he said neutrally.

"...Obi-Wan, right?" She kept her tone just as neutral.

"Yes. May I ask what it is you are drinking?"

"Corellian ale. And Padme, please. Call me Padme."

"Very well," he said with a slight smile, watching as she downed the contents of the glass. He turned and flagged a waiter for two more.

"So, Obi-Wan," she started, as the two drinks were delivered. "I hope you have some way of paying for these..."

The Padawan grinned as he paid in the local currency. He laughed at her wide-eyed look. "I always research our missions well, so I can pack a handful of credits in the local currencies of the major planets along the way. Just in case."

"You're very resourceful," she complimented, her eyes twinkling. She held up her glass. "To the resourcefulness of the Jedi," she toasted softly, so no only Obi-Wan could hear her. "May it provide much in the way of after-hours companionship."

Obi-Wan lifted his glass in agreement and drank. He regarded Padme for a moment and spoke only when she looked at him askance. He smiled reassuringly. "Would you mind if we made this a little more interesting?"

"How so?"

"Well," he said, leaning back a little. "Let's play a game. It's called I never. You start by saying 'I never' and then finish the sentence. If the statement, as it applies to you, is false, then you drink."

Padme gave him a curious look. "I'm not sure I understand..."

"Here, I'll start. I never had my planet invaded before," he said. "Now, you drink..."

"...Because my planet has been invaded," she finished, before taking a sip. "Okay. I never fixed a ship."

Obi-Wan drank with a smile.

*****
Hours Later
*****

Obi-Wan could feel the alcohol tickling his brain. His Jedi metabolism had served him well in keeping him fairly alert, but he could tell that Padme had taken quite a beating. She was moving past tipsy and was well on her way to drunk. They had learned quite a bit about each other over the last few hours, and they were each surprised to find out they had many things in common.

"I never made love to anyone before," she said, causing Obi-Wan's senses to snap into alertness, despite his slight inebriation.

He blinked slowly, raising the glass to his lips. His eyes never left hers as the amber liquid passed over his lips and slid down his throat. He drained the glass completely and set it down on the table carefully.

Padme swallowed thickly as she fought to keep her breathing steady. "So...so you've..." she intoned softly.

His voice was just a soft as he replied, "...No. But I'm about to..."

Her lips curled into a gentle smile, as she raised her own glass to her lips and drained it.

The rose together and, hand-in-hand, walked out into the cool nighttime air.

Love Me Not ~ Prompt #069

Title: Love Me Not
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme, Anakin
Prompt: Thunder
Word Count: 427
Rating: PG
Summary: Padme gets caught doing something she shouldn't and Obi-Wan makes his choice.
Author's Notes: Inspired by this lovely banner.

----------------

Obi-Wan watched as Padme fell from the gunship, hitting the golden sands of Geonosis. He tried to ignore the intense feelings coming from his Padawan as it happened, and he turned to the pilot as soon as he the dust settled.

"Keep following that speeder!" He yelled, face drawn in a grim line.

"No! Turn the ship around!" Anakin protested. He was still looking after Padme.

Obi-Wan's frown almost turned into a sneer, but he checked the emotion of hatred before it welled up. Anakin would sense it as surely as he could sense the Padawan's agitation at Padme's fate. "No! We need to keep moving! We can end this war right now, Anakin."

"I can't leave her!"

Yes you can. I am. "I need you Anakin! I can't take Dooku alone!"

"Put the ship down!"

"No! Follow that speeder! Anakin, mind your personal feelings!"

Because if Obi-Wan could keep his in check, so could Anakin. Especially in the face of his betrayal. In the face of her betrayal. He turned away from Anakin to stare intently on Dooku's speeder. He was grappling with dangerous feelings, considering who his companion was, Mr. I-Can-Sense-You-A-Million-Miles-Away Skywalker. But he couldn't help it. He felt some kind of justice at watching Padme fall out of the gunship, and he had to admit that he hadn't really made much of an effort to try and save her.

Her voice bubbled up from within: "I will love you forever, Obi-Wan."

"And I you, my love."

The words were corrosive to him now, as an image that would forever be etched in his memory crowded out every single moment he had spent with his Padme. He had been chained to the post, gazing around the arena as he sought a way out. His eyes had fallen upon the dark void of the entrance and he could make out new prisoners awaiting their fate. He had called upon the Force to see who it was, and as the shadows fell away he watched in horror as his love leaned up to kiss his Padawan. The kiss had been a chaste one, yes, but it had been full of emotions and feelings that had been reserved for the Knight alone and now she was forsaking him for someone else.

So be it. If she could throw him away so easily, then he could do the same to her.

So no, from the time she had entered that arena, she was no longer Obi-Wan's concern, as he divorced her in his heart and banished her from his soul.

Worth Saving ~ Prompt #087

Title: Worth Saving
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme
Prompt: Life
Word Count: 513
Rating: PG
Summary: Pretend that Obi-Wan and Anakin's missions in AOTC were reversed. Keep the fact that Anakin has a Thing for Padme, and Obi is uber-Jedi.
Author's Notes: I swear this is the only thing I could think of for this prompt, given the fact that I had the added, self-given stipulation of setting it during AOTC. This occurs days before the original scene actually happens in the movie. It's safe to assume that it's early enough for Obi to do what Anakin couldn't...

Comes after The Family of a Senator and Prepare To Retreat.

---------

The Lake Country was teeming with life, despite the isolation. Obi-Wan could feel it, in the early morning dawn. He stood, barefoot and motionless, on the veranda; his hands clasped behind his back, eyes closed, he took in everything through the Force. He and Padme had been here for only two days, but he had taken to standing here as the sun rose over the mountain peaks quite quickly. He wasn't sure why he was compelled to do so, just that it felt right. With a silent sigh, he sank deeper into the Force.

The tan under-tunic of his uniform rustled gently in the breeze. The hemline of his trousers tickled his ankles. He noticed nothing, except the life within the verdant hills and the crystalline water. He was one with the countryside, he was one with the servants inside the estate; he was even one with Padme, who was still sleeping.

It was serenity incarnate, this place, and he had to commend Padme for choosing it. The Lake Country of Naboo offered a welcomed respite from the happenings of the galaxy, but Obi-Wan, connected to the Force, could not escape it completely. He let the life-force of the entire planet permeate him, draw him into the current of energy that ebbed and flowed around it. Once he was there, once he was intimately connected with Naboo and her people, he let a part of him take one of the currents that left the planet and threaded it together with the rest of the Force.

He let this part of him wander as the currents willed it, touching everything he came into contact with and weaving it within the tapestry he was creating. He allowed the edges of conflict to enter, as conflict was as much a part of life as peace. The brush-strokes of grief added a unique texture to the artwork, as he picked up something that touched him in a familiar yet, at the same time, utterly alien way. Nothing in his outward appearance belied his curiosity at this interesting little detail. He made the effort to devote another measure of his being to the investigation of this anomaly, always careful not to push, as pushing always tended to lose threads, rather than coerce them into growing.

And just as he finally figured out what that presence meant, he sensed Padme behind him, awake and clearly alert. Slowly, he let the meditation fall away, until all that was remaining was the Jedi and the Senator.

"We need to leave, don't we? For Anakin's sake?" Padme whispered, not wanting to break the silence more than need be.

"Yes, I think we do," he replied, struck by her intuition. Perhaps there was more to the young Senator than a vibrancy of life.

"I'll get the ship ready."

Obi-Wan nodded. "Pre-set our coordinates for Tatooine. We lift off as soon as I've packed us up."

Obi-wan knew, in that instant, that though he raced to the aid of Shmi Skywalker, the life he was truly saving was Anakin's.

For better or for worse...

Prepare To Retreat ~ Prompt #090

Title: Prepare To Retreat
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme
Prompt: Home
Word Count: 285
And obviously based on the deleted scene.

Comes after The Family of a Senator.

-----------

Obi-Wan's expert eye raked the bedroom, before turning a watchful gaze out the window. He sat perched on the cushioned window seat, keeping guard as Padme packed a few more things for their trip to the lake.

"I'm sorry about what happened at dinner," Padme said with a shy grin. "They can be a little over-protective, sometimes. Especially my mother."

Obi-Wan grinned. "They love and care for you, Padme. It's only natural for them to be like that."

"I know. And my being away so much doesn't help. That's why I live here, still. It would kill them if I had to live away from them."

"Understandable."

No mention was made of Sola's comments. Obi-Wan had already taken them as a compliment and then let it go. Of course, now he frowned over them, wondering if Anakin would have been capable of doing the same.

Probably not. Which is why I am here and not him.

"You look like you need cheering up," Padme said.

Obi-Wan blinked. "I do?"

"You're frowning." She chuckled. "Here, take a look at this." She handed him a holo. "That's better," She said as a grin blossomed on his face.

"Is this you?"

"Yes. It was taken when I was a Junior Legislator."

He handed the holo back to her, and she replaced it on her dresser. With a sly look, he replied, "You haven't changed a bit."

Padme snorted and threw a pillow at him. Obi-Wan caught it, laughing.

With a sad sigh, she looked around. "Well, I'm ready to go. Come, let me show you the part of my home that you didn't get a chance to see the last time you were here..."

The Family of a Senator ~ Prompt #024

Title: The Family of a Senator
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme, Sola, Ruwee, Jobal
Prompt: Family
Word Count: 339
And obviously based on the deleted scene.

------------

Obi-Wan watched the banter between Padme and her family. This was certainly a side of the Senator that he had never seen before. It never occurred to him that she could fit in this environment. Family life seemed too delicate for such a strong and resilient woman. He found it fascinating, seeing her in a place so far removed from the cares and troubles of a Senator's world.

And the Naberrie family was obviously thrown off his Jedi-origins by his civilian garb.

"Did you know that you're the first boyfriend my dear sister has ever brought home, Obi-Wan?" Sola said suddenly, catching Obi-Wan off-guard.

He felt himself blush. At least the disguise was working. He just wished that Sola hadn't said it while his mouth was still full. He tried not to choke. Amazing. Do I really look that young?

Padme looked horrified at the pronouncement. "Sola! He's not my boyfriend! He's a Jedi Master. The Senate thought it would be wise to assign a member of the Order to protect me."

Jobal paled. "A Jedi Master?! Oh dear, I knew that the situation was bad, but bad enough to warrant a Jedi Master...?"

"Mom," Padme said in a placating tone. "It's not that bad."

"Is it?" Jobal asked Obi-Wan. "Is it that bad?"

Obi-Wan wiped his mouth with a napkin. "I'm afraid it might be," he said slowly. He didn't get a chance to say anything else.

"Oh, Padme!" Jobal was suddenly all maternal concern. "I told you it was too dangerous to continue..."

Ruwee finally cleared his throat, stopping his wife's impending tirade. "Now, now, dear. Padme obviously believes that the risks are worth it. And she is in good hands." He nodded in Obi-Wan's direction, a vote of confidence in the Jedi's abilities.

Jobal didn't look the slightest bit mollified. But she sat and ate silently, anyway.

Obi-Wan sighed inwardly, smiling shyly at Padme, who gave him a look of fond exasperation.

"Welcome to my family," she whispered.

It Begins With Goodbye ~ Prompt #001

Title: It Begins With Goodbye
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme, Anakin, Qui-Gon and Yoda.
Prompt: Beginnings
Word Count: 409
Rating: PG
Summary: Sometimes, you have to leave things behind before you even start...
Author's Notes: I could just do a song fic, since this song is perfect for this. Or I can just give you the part of it I was singing when I came up with the fic. I'm sure you can guess which I picked ;)

I guess it's gonna have to hurt,
I guess I'm gonna have to cry,
And let go of some things I've loved,
To get to the other side,
I guess it's gonna break me down,
Like fallin when you try to fly,
Sad but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life,
Starts with goodbye.

- Starts With Goodbye; Carrie Underwood

(p.s. have you bought it yet?)

--------

Obi-Wan held Padme as they watched the two fight. Her husband and her son were locked in a deadly dance that would end in the death of one or the other. She couldn't watch half the time, her face buried in Obi-Wan's tunic. She was trembling with the effort of holding back tears. She could do nothing but witness this ultimate betrayal of everything Anakin had once been.

But soon, Obi-Wan nudged her and she watched as the man she had once thought of as a mentor and friend let loose his fearful attack of Force-lightning. She screamed, but they couldn't hear her. No one could hear her but Obi-Wan.

And then, miraculously, Anakin came to his senses and moved to fulfill the prophecy that had haunted him as he grew from boy to man to monster. Padme wished she could beat Qui-Gon Jinn senseless for finding Anakin and placing him on this path, for placing the boy in her life. Obi-Wan had to chuckle as he sensed her thoughts. Nothing was hidden between them, here in the Force, and he could feel Qui-Gon's own mild amusement, as well.

Padme blinked, and they were suddenly in the dense forest of Endor, watching silently as her son, Luke Skywalker, paid homage to the father he known only as a twisted, evil man. Obi-Wan joined her in crying silently, but he gave her arm a gentle squeeze as the firelight licked the heavens and fireworks began bursting overhead.

Come, Padme. He'll be waiting for us.

She nodded, wiping at her eyes. They moved off to watch the party, but Padme hung back, letting Obi-Wan join Master Yoda. She felt a hand on her shoulder and looked up into the smiling eyes of Qui-Gon. He nodded in the direction of the others and she turned just in time to see Anakin appear. Qui-Gon pulled her back as Luke took one last look at the spectres of his mentors and his father before being pulled back to the living by his sister.

Anakin! she called, and ran to him. They embraced.

It wasn't long before they were both enfolded in a hug from Obi-Wan.

The circle was now truly complete; each had given their lives to ensure the renewal of the galaxy they had loved in their own way. Now that the obligation was taken care of, they had the rest of their lives ahead of them, for death was only the beginning.

Mission Prep ~ Prompt #066

Title: Mission Prep
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme
Prompt: Rain
Word Count: 678
Rating: PG
Summary: Obi-Wan does some pre-mission prep after he finds out about the uber-sekrit trip to Naboo...
Author's Notes: Blame me for associating "rain" with "being inside doing homework".

----------

The thick silence within the Jedi Archives bordered on reverence. The soft glow from the stacks and terminals added an ethereal feel to the vast chamber, a testament to the diligence of the Jedi in collecting information from all over the galaxy. Obi-Wan loved spending time here, wandering through the aisles, randomly picking up datadisks and viewing them. It always seemed that whenever he was feeling down, a trip to the archives would always help him. It was a different kind of peace that he felt here. Unlike the tranquil and calm peace of the Room of a Thousand Fountains, or the vibrant and energizing peace of the Meditation Gardens, the Archives held peace with a sense of quiet, yet tenacious, purpose.

Like an ant gathering food for the cold snows of winter, so too did the Jedi that sought knowledge gather it to his or her bosom as tests, trials and missions came and went. Obi-Wan could almost imagine the evolution of the Archives over the centuries, as the Jedi collected every scrap of data imaginable. He thanked them silently for their dedication to such a task, as having more than a millennium worth of history was no mean feat, and one that he truly appreciated, especially at times like these, as he skimmed the rows of datadisks, running his finger lightly over each.

He closed his eyes and let the Force guide his touch. Slowly, so very slowly, he walked through the stacks, and finally pulled three disks from different parts of the Archives. He found an empty terminal and popped the first disk into the drive. Immediately, information on the recent blockade of Naboo from the HoloNet flashed on the screen, and he skimmed each relevant article. It was the same old story that had been told a hundred times in a hundred ways: the greedy exploiting the defenseless for profit and the fall of morality before the stampede of invasion and annexation.

He replaced that disk with the next, and the files on the Trade Federation popped up. He read about the Neimoidians and their love of everything shiny and profitable. He also noted their cowardice in the face of danger, and something struck him as odd about that. It didn't mesh with the current situation. He tucked these scraps away for future use and then moved on to the last disk. Soon, he was soaring over the rolling plains of Naboo, taking in the planet and wondering once more why the Trade Federation would go through such trouble for such a small, out-of-the-way planet.

There was no point for them to first tax the trade routes (save for pure profit) and there was no precedent for blockading and prohibiting all trade. Obi-Wan sighed and sat back in his seat. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully, as he contemplated the screen. He reached out and pushed a button bringing up the political structures. The elected monarchy was hardly worth noting, and the Senator was one that was wholly unremarkable. He was truly puzzled by the Neimoidian interest in the planet on such a large and aggressive scale. He would have to talk to Qui-Gon about it.

Just as he moved to pop the disk out, a picture caught his eye. It was of a young girl during her recent inauguration as Queen. She couldn't have been more than fourteen. Amidala, the newly elected Queen, stood regally amongst the planetary officials. He read the biography of the young ruler, but all information about who she had been before was missing. There were no images, no information, no anything. He skimmed the names of her handmaidens and their pictures. He paused on one, Padme Naberrie, and brought up her file.

Minimalist was the best word he could come up with, but something niggled at the back of his brain. She looked like a headstrong troublemaker, he thought with a frown. He memorized the face and the name.

Padme Naberrie, Handmaiden to the Queen of Naboo.

Oh yes, she would be trouble. He could sense it.

Reunion ~ Prompt #075

Title: Reunion
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme
Prompt: Shade
Word Count: 276
Rating: PG
Summary: Together, they watch over her children...
Author's Notes: shade (shād) n. - A disembodied spirit; a ghost.

----------

He has a brief moment to wander the Force, now that Luke has destroyed the Death Star. He had made sure the boy had grown up safely and had been put into direct contact with his sister. He had even made sure that the first stage of events that would ultimately lead to Anakin's redemption was set properly into motion. He now has but a few moments - even though, to the living, years will pass - before he is needed in the corporeal world once more.

It is in these moments that he finds her. He isn't surprised when the smile he remembers lights up as he approaches.

Obi-Wan! You haven't changed a bit! She's quite pleased to note.

He looks down at himself and is suddenly aware that his form has changed. He is no longer the old man, doomed to be removed from the galaxy, but the vibrant, young Jedi Knight that had lived and loved to the fullest.

Padme. He smiles. You are more radiant than ever.

He can't tell, but she may just blush at the compliment. I've missed you.

I've missed you too.

Obi-Wan?

Yes, Padme?

I'm sorry.

He takes her hand, twining their fingers. What for?

For loving him, after loving you first.

He hugs her close. You shouldn't be sorry. It was the way things were meant to be. His salvation would not have been born, otherwise.

How are they?

They're fine. They're together again for the first time since they were infants.

She smiles sadly. I wish I could have known them.

You can, my love. We can watch over them together, now.

Yes, we can.

And they do.

They break my brain.

----------

"I have a tree house now." Padme dragged Obi-Wan onto the veranda. "See? We don't gots a tree, but papa made the pillar look like one. Then he built me a house!"

"Cool! We could make a club, with passwords and secret handshakes and stuff!" Obi-Wan was delighted. This would be So Cool!

Padme led the way to the secret staircase that led up to the little house. "Yep, and we an have secret meetings and plan all sorts of stuff!"

Obi-Wan grinned. "I bet we could hide up here for a long time before they could find us."

Padme giggled. She closed the door behind them and pounced on Obi-Wan. He caught her and spun her around before they both fell on the floor laughing.

"Hey! You kids be careful up there!" Ruwee's voice floated up to the tree house and in through the tiny window.

But Obi-Wan and Padme, still tangled together on the floor, were too busy kissing to hear him.

Cheatin' Heart ~ Prompt #094

Title: Cheatin' Heart
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme, Anakin
Prompt: Independence
Word Count: 484 (not including song lyrics)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Never, ever piss a Senator off.
Author's Notes: I rarely do song-fics. So I'm allowed. Song is sung by the lovely Miss Carrie Underwood and can be found on her album Some Hearts, track #7. It can be purchased HERE [/shameless plug]

I'm not profiting off of this, so please, no suing.

----------

Right now he's probably slow dancing with a bleached-blond tramp, and she's probably getting frisky...
Right now, he's probably buying her some fruity little drink cause she can't shoot whiskey...
Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool-stick, showing her how to shoot a combo...

And he don't know...

"I couldn't believe it. I have seen it and it's still unfathomable. If Sabe and I had not decided to sneak out undercover for some fun, I would have missed it all together, and would have lived in ignorance for a long time. But now that I know, it's painfully obvious."

A Pause. A slight shift as a hand reaches out to take a drink of champagne. A bit of water sloshes out of the tub and onto the floor.

"Anakin's cheating on me. He was in the Outlander last night. Sabe saw him outside and she poked me in the ribs. Before I could call out to him, though, he had turned to his companion. She looked really, really..." She fights for the word. "Trampy. A tart. I mean, who cheats on a Senator with a tramp? I expected better from him." Before any interjection can be made, "Not that I expected him to cheat, or condone it, really, but honestly. Aren't you supposed to cheat with someone who's technically better than your significant other?"

She ignores the snort of amusement from her companion. "It makes no sense! I mean, if she had been another Senator, or even a Jedi or...or something classy, I'd be willing to overlook it for the time being, you know, indulge him a little? But...ugh.”

Right now, she's probably up singing some white-trash version of Shania karoke..
Right now, she's probably saying "I'm drunk" and he's a thinking that he's gonna get lucky,
Right now, he's probably dabbing on 3 dollars worth of that bathroom Polo...
And he don't know...

"I had to follow them inside. Just to see. How very masochistic of me, I know. And, oh Force. Do you know what she ordered? A virgin Tatooine Sunrise! Virgin. He ordered his customary Corellian whiskey, and tried to get her to have a sip. She took it, all right, but it damn near killed her. I swear we watched them, and she drank a lot, but none had the alcohol content that that one sip of whiskey had. After about ten minutes, she was very loose. Loose enough to get up and make a fool of herself on stage when they opened it up to the general public. I've seen better dancers in my life, but even the trashiest Twi'lek dancer is better than her!"

A gulp of air, and a moment to collect thoughts. The bubbles skimming the water crackle in the silence. She leans against the naked body behind her.

"Seriously, who gets drunk on a mouthful of whiskey? I bet Anakin loved that one. I had to drag Sabe out of there as Anakin disappeared into the 'fresher. Probably went to make himself more appealing to his...companion."

Finally, the appalled silence was long enough for her companion to get a word in. Obi-Wan moved a bit, careful not to let more water fall over the edge.

He ran his hands up and down her sides before kneaded Padme's shoulders, using the soap-slick water to ease the friction. "So what did you do?" he whispered in her ear.

She smiled, closed her eyes, and leaned her head back against him. "You know that speeder he's so fond of?"

"...Yes."

"Well, let me tell you..."

I dug my key into the side of his pretty little suped up 4 wheel drive,
carved my name into his leather seat,
I took a Louisville slugger to both head lights,
slashed a hole in all 4 tires.

And maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.

New Day's Dawn ~ Prompt #068

Title: New Day's Dawn
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme
Prompt: Lightening
Word Count: 410
Rating: PG
Summary: Obi-Wan's musings on Polis Massa, post ROTS.
Author's Notes: Yes, I thought of the bleakest place one could watch a sunrise. Well, a psuedo-sunrise, anyway.

And the Force-be-damned Jedi took a left-turn on me. So this was totally unexpected.

-----------

He stood gazing out the view port, cloak wrapped around him and arms crossed over his chest. All he could see was the dark, barren landscape of Polis Massa, and the starfield beyond the horizon. The facility was hidden within the rocks, just as he was hidden in the Force. He could never be open within it ever again, lest the new Emperor found him out. His life was gone, his friends all dead.

Just like me. For all intents and purposes, I am dead, too.

The living-dead, that is what he and Yoda had now become, while the other Jedi were merely dead. Mace Windu, Kit Fisto, all his friends and comrades were now one with the Force. And his best and dearest friend, his brother, his son, was not only a traitor but dead, too, by Obi-Wan's own hand.

No, check that. Obi-Wan never dealt the killing blow, but he may as well have. Anakin had burned to death in the flames of Mustafar, along with his treachery, but it had been too late. The dark deeds had been done.

Obi-Wan closed his eyes to the landscape and fought the tears that threatened to overwhelm him. He needed to be strong, for Padme's children. Yes, she and Anakin had borne children that were strong in the Force, but they needed to be protected from the dangers of existence. And Padme...oh, dear, beautiful Padme.

Why did you have to love him? Why did you love him and not me? His love killed you...

She was being prepared now, to be returned to her beloved planet of Naboo. They had decided that it would be best if no one knew that the twins had been born, that they had died. It would be easier that way.

Obi-Wan knew he would do anything to ensure that Padme's legacy would live on. The last burning vestiges of hope for this darkened galaxy would be eternally etched within her children. He would make sure of that.

I promise you, Padme, I'll look after them. I will love them as though they were ours.

To bear witness to his vow, and to seal it for eternity, a flare of light broke over the horizon, as the light from a distant star-gone-nova breached the silent wasteland of rock and ice.

Yes, a new era was commencing, and Obi-Wan would do everything he could to make sure it dawned bright, full and abounding with hope.

Precious Metal ~ Prompt #020

Title: Precious Metal
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Anakin, OFC, Obi-Wan, Padme
Prompt: Colourless
Word Count: 447
Rating: G
Summary: A child's first lightsabre is a Big Deal...
Author's Notes: Baby-Kenobi's name is pronounced Sarr-ad. That is all.

----------

Five-year-old Saraid Kenobi couldn't keep the bounce out of her step as she hopped off the ship's landing ramp and saw her parents waiting for her. She managed not to break down and run towards them, instead waiting for Anakin to emerge before she started walking towards them.

Obi-Wan and Padme shared a secret smile. Their daughter was every bit like her Master, despite having parents who were usually more controlled. Of course, all it took was a quiet word from Master Skywalker to send the child flying into the arms of her mother, as Padme stooped down to sweep her daughter up into her arms.

Obi-Wan watched happily as the two loves of his life babbled back and forth for a moment, then stepped aside to speak with his old friend. "So. How did it go?"

"It went well, Master." Anakin never did get the hang of calling Obi-Wan anything else. "Although I was a bit worried when things didn't go as they should have on Ilum," he said with a frown.

"Oh?" Obi-Wan glanced back at his daughter, instantly concerned. "What happened?"

"Well, she entered the trance with ease, but...it didn't work. We tried several times for three days until, finally, she told me that being on Ilum 'didn't feel right'."

"Oh." The corner of Obi-Wan's mouth turned up in a slight grin.

"Yes. Oh. Of course, she couldn't tell me where we needed to go for it to 'feel right'. So we spent the last two standard weeks traipsing around the galaxy. We ended up on Dantooine."

"And?" Obi-Wan was curious now. And a bit anxious to see how his daughter had made out.

It was Anakin's turn to grin. "You'll see. Saraid! Come over here and show your father how you did."

Saraid jumped from Padme's arms and bounced over to the two Jedi, Padme following behind. She unclipped a lightsabre hilt from her belt and held it out. "See, papa! Isn't it shiny?"

Obi-Wan could help but feel proud as he knelt in front of his daughter and gazed at Saraid first weapon. "It's very well crafted, my heart. And what colour did the Force give you?"

Holding the hilt out, Saraid ignited the blade. A silver shaft of energy pulsed into life with that distinctive snap-hiss. "Gots no colour. Isn't it pretty?"

Obi-wan blinked, and looked up at Anakin. His friend shrugged.

Obi-Wan smiled warmly. "One of nature's most precious metals, my heart. It endures forever as a shining beacon of life and love. Wield it well."

Saraid snapped the blade off and threw her arms around Obi-Wan's neck. She kissed him on the cheek and whispered, "Thank you, papa."

Musicality ~ Prompt #078

Title: Musicality
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme
Prompt: Where?
Word Count: 291
Rating: PG
Summary: Obi-Wan and Padme go to the Opera...
Author's Notes: This is silly. Inspired by my ripping Handel's Messiah to iTunes.

----------

Obi-Wan winced. He normally enjoyed this type of cultural excursion, but this...this was painful. The only good thing about this was that he was in a private box, so other patrons couldn't notice his reactions. He glanced at Padme and felt a twinge of sympathy as she grimaced.

He leaned over discreetly and whispered, "You got these tickets from who, exactly?"

"The Senator from Bimmisaari. He and his wife couldn't make it to this evening's performance and they didn't want their tickets to go to waste."

"Right."

For a few minutes, only the strange music and singing of the Bimm's floated between them, both Jedi and Senator trying stoically to stick it out.

It was Padme who leaned over first, this time. "Definitely an acquired taste, isn't it?"

"Indeed. They have an...interesting...take on this particular opera."

More painful-music-filled silence.

Obi-Wan's attention began to wander and he started scanning the crowds. Leaning over once more, "Isn't that the Senator from Bestine with her aide?"

Padme frowned. "Where?"

"Down there."

"No, that can't be her. She has a private box, just like all Senators. She wouldn't sit with the general population."

"Even if she were trying to hide the fact that she's with her aide?"

Padme's frown deepened and she leaned forward to get a better look. "You know, I think you're right. And sitting about ten rows behind her is the Senator from Aquaris. And that is not his wife."

"Really? Where?"

"There. See? Almost five seat over and ten rows back."

"Wow." Obi-Wan leaned back. Pause. "You want to get out of here?"

"Oh yes, please..."

**********
Elsewhere
**********

"Hey, isn't that Senator from Naboo? Why is she leaving with a Jedi? I thought Jedi weren't allowed to date?"

"...Where??"

Stranded ~ Prompt #61

Title: Stranded
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme
Prompt: Winter
Word Count: 262
Rating: PG-13
Summary: When a woman says "pull over and ask for directions", you listen!
Author's Notes: There are only two planets I know of that worked for this prompt, I felt, so I picked Hoth, seeing as Ilum is supposed to be a Jedi Sekrit <strike>even though Padme goes there in the Clone Wars micro series</strike>.

----------

"Well that's just great. Now we're stranded on this Force-forsaken rock until one of us figures out how to fix the transmitter." Obi-Wan Kenobi pulled his cloak around him more tightly. Even though he and Padme Amidala were safely inside the small freighter, he could still feel the cold, imagining it as the Hoth winds buffeted the ship.

"Well, if we had stopped to ask for proper hyperspace coordinates, we wouldn't-"

"Excuse me, but I've been calculating hyperspace jumps since before you were born."

"Typical male," Padme muttered.

"I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that. Did you just call me a typical male?"

Padme glared. "Yes. Yes, I did, Obi-Wan Kenobi. And if it weren't for your insufferable Jedi-know-it-all attitude, we would never have reverted in the middle of that asteroid belt."

Obi-Wan glared back. "The data we received from those charts was flaw-"

"And we would have known had we asked about it!" She yelled. Padme threw her hands up and left the room. As she crossed the threshold, she added, "And I suggest you get to work. You're going to lose daylight soon and you'll need all the light and warmth you can get as you examine the transmitter on the outer-hull."

Obi-Wan sputtered. "Me?!"

"Yes, you. You got us into this, you get us out. And next time, you will follow my advice and ask for directions."

And then she was gone.

Obi-Wan stared after her before frowning and grudgingly taking her advice. No need to hear another 'I told you so' so soon after the first, after all...

Time Heals All Things ~ Prompt #009

Title: Time Heals All Things
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan/Padme
Prompt: Months
Word Count: 376
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Obi-Wan finally gets his Padme back...
Author's Notes: An Epilogue of sorts, I suppose, to Abeyance. It can be found HERE and HERE.

----------

Months had gone by, and still no progress had been made. The doctors had told Obi-Wan that these things took time and there was no way of telling how much of his love's memory would be recovered, if any. He visited her every day, of course, when his schedule permitted. She allowed him to, which was something.

But she still remembered nothing. That miracle was taking it's sweet time in coming, and Obi-Wan could do aught else but lay in the bed they had shared each night, remembering how things used to be. Tonight was no different, as he thought about the lovely day he had, escorting the Woman He Loved around the gardens at the Jedi Temple, sharing tentative conversation and companionship. They had progressed to the point where Padme allowed him to links arms with her as they walked. But it was still very proper, and very delicate.

He sighed, letting himself sink into the mattress that would forever linger with her scent and close his eyes. Just as his breathing was evening out, and his body was beginning to relax, he heard a soft noise of an opening door. The Force didn't alarm him to any danger, so he merely lay there, listening. He reached out with his senses, his heart quickening at what he felt. Presently, the bedroom door opened and closed. The rustle of fabric as it was discarded was followed by the padded sound of feet on the lush carpet.

Finally, the weight of someone climbing into the bed precluded the covers being drawn back and a warm body straddling his hips. He opened his eyes to see Padme - his Lady, his Light, and his Love - smiling down at him. She placed as finger over his mouth as his lips parted to speak. She leaned down and kissed him.

"Say nothing, my soul. Say nothing and let me love you. I have been away from you for too long to allow words to distract us now. There will be time for them later."

Yes, there would be time for words later, when Obi-Wan could finally tell her how much he missed her. But right now, all that mattered was that she was here, in his arms and he loved her.

Puppy Love ~ Prompt #088

Title: Puppy Love
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme
Prompt: School
Word Count: 240
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Little!Padme and Little!Obi-Wan have fun at school.
Author's Notes: *facepalms* I have no idea how old they are. We'll just say they're old enough so that this idea isn't as obscene as it could be.

----------

"Okay, class. Get out your colouring books! Crayons are in the tins, as always." The teacher said.

Padme and Obi-Wan squealed in delight with the rest of the class and raced to get their books and crayons. They fought to get seats next to each other near the cloakroom, and then settled in to colour.

"Whatcha gonna to draw?" Padme asked her best friend.

"A space fighter. I saw one th'other day, when I was lookin' out th'window before bed. It zoomed overhead and was so cool." Obi-Wan said, grabbing a black crayon from the tin. "What're you gonna draw?"

"I was gonna to draw you and me when we're all growed up. Do you think we'll be friends still?"

Obi-Wan though for a moment, as he drew the outline of the fighter. "Ya, I think so. We'll always be friends."

"I hope so." Padme giggled. "Maybe if we are, we could get married! I heard that friends do that sometimes!"

Obi-Wan made a face. "Married? Why would we wanna do that?"

Padme giggled evilly. "So we don't have to go kiss underneath the cloaks anymore, silly. Married people don't have to do that."

Obi-Wan blushed. "Shhh. Don't say that so loud."

"Sorry." Padme giggled more. "Hey look, no one's watchin' and Teacher's at her desk readin'. We could sneak away now?"

Obi-Wan glanced around. Yep, they weren't being watched. He grinned. "Okay."

And off they snuck into the cloakroom...

Love's Storm ~ Prompt #070

Title: Love's Storm
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan/Padme
Prompt: Storm
Word Count: 374
Rating: R
Summary: Love is like a storm, and Obi-Wan and Padme are in the center of it.
Author's Notes: I may or may not have stolen this idea from "The Storm" by Kate Chopin. I only realized that it ran similar after I started writing. Believe what you will.

---------

She lay in his arms, naked body entwined with his. They were by no means alone on the ship, but the room they were in was reserved for her, being a high-ranking handmaiden to the Queen. The journey to the little town they had landed outside of had been delayed due to a sandstorm. The winds buffeted the cruiser, but the Queen, her handmaidens, the Jedi, pilots and security staff were nestled snugly inside.

She awoke with a start, as a large blast actually rocked the ship and thundered loudly.

He rubbed her back gently. "Shhh. It's okay, it's only the storm. Go back to sleep, love."

She didn't tell him that her fear was of being caught, and not the storm.

*****

Space was indeed cold, as they sped through hyperspace to Coruscant. She lay awake in his embrace, thinking about...not him.

He pulled her closer and snuggled against her back. She pulled his arms around her more tightly, trying to banish the vision of that little slave boy from her mind.

He awoke with a start, as the turmoil in her heart pulled him from deep sleep. She felt the change in him and turned in his arms.

She kissed him on the lips. She placed a gentle hand on his cheek. "Shhh. It's okay. It's only a storm. It will pass. Let me kiss you back to sleep."

He didn't tell her that his concern was of losing her to someone else, and not her feelings.

*****

Their passion matched the thundering storm outside the windows. The driving sheets of rain obscured the cityscape of Coruscant. Her lips slid over his recklessly, as she clutched his shoulder, digging her nails into his flesh. He thrust into her again and again, their moans blotted out only by the crashing thunder. She cried out his name as she found sweet and blessed release; he did likewise as he spilled his essence into her.

Breathing heavily, their fingers entwined, they gazed at each other in the darkness of the room.

They didn't have to tell each other that the their love was for the one before them, and not for the ones they would return to in the morning.

A Woman's Touch ~ Prompt #072

Title: A Woman's Touch
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan, Padme, Anakin
Prompt: Fixed
Word Count: 220
Rating: G
Summary: It has become apparent that Anakin cannot fix everything...
Author's Notes: This is what happens when you a) work at Blockbuster and b) dedicate your break to writing fic.

----------

"I thought you were good at this sort of thing?"

"I am good. The best. I can fix any-"

"So why can't you fix this?"

Anakin glared at Obi-Wan. "Because it's obviously inferior and lacking..." he trailed off as Obi-Wan began mimicking him, using his hand in that universal gesture of someone babbling.

"Blah, blah, blah," he intoned, rolling his eyes. "Honestly, Anakin. Excuses won't fix it. Did you try the power cable?"

"Yes," the younger man said through gritted teeth. "I checked the power cable, all the hook-ups and the power switch. It's all FINE."

"Well, you must have done some-" Obi-Wan never finished speaking as Padme walked in.

She looked back and forth between the two Jedi, then between the Jedi and the holo-emitter. She gazed at the mess.

She blinked.

Calmly, Padme walked up to the holo-emitter and gave it a solid WHACK! She then turned the power on.

The emitter flickered for a moment, before the manufacturer's logo sprang to life. Padme smiled at the Jedi and walked into the other room.

Anakin and Obi-Wan shared an incredulous look.

Anakin's mouth worked a few times before, "I won't tell a soul if you won't."

Obi-Wan nodded. "Agreed."

The elder Jedi popped the holovid into the player, and he and Anakin sat back to watch their movie.

Abeyance - Pt. 2 ~ Prompt #025

Title: Abeyance - Pt. 2
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Padme and Obi-Wan
Prompt: Strangers
Word Count: 186
Rating: PG
Summary: Obi-Wan muses on Padme's condition. Part 2 of 2.
Author's Notes: The second part of the story which began HERE.

----------

She did not know him, the man she had sworn to love forever.

It pained him greatly to sit with her and see the loving glint replaced with fear and uncertainty. She wouldn't even give him the benefit of bodily contact; she had removed her hand from his the moment she was able.

He had been asked to leave the room, as his presence agitated her and she needed calm in order to heal. They had said the ordeal had made her weary of others, and rightly so. Kidnapping and beating were hardly terms of endearment.

But she did not know him, and that hurt. It hurt more than seeing her body as lifeless as a corpse on that bed; it hurt more than knowing she was out there somewhere without him to protect her...

But Obi-Wan believed in miracles. And miracles could never run out.

They were strangers today, yes, but someday she would be his again.

After all, they had been strangers once before, and it had taken the miracle of love to make them one.

That miracle would make them whole once more.

Abeyance - Pt. 1 ~ Prompt #076

Title: Abeyance - Pt. 1
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Padme and Obi-Wan
Prompt: Who?
Word Count: 288
Rating: PG
Summary: Padme wakes up from a coma, while a hoping Obi-Wan sits by her bedside. Part 1 of 2.
Author's Notes: I'm not sure where this one came from. I was RPing and chatting on AIM when it popped into my head. Was originally supposed to only be for the Strangers prompt, but the course of the story made me re-write it to include both prompts.

Part two is HERE

---------------

Obi-Wan believed in miracles.

He believed in them because of her; because she had transformed his life simply by being a part of it. He smile, her laughter, her joy, all of it made him come alive. He had been chained to duty for so long, that loving her was freedom.

He believed in them because of her; even after they took her, she had found a way to get a message to them. She had left a trail so blazing hot, that to miss it would have been to be blind in the most ignorant of ways.

He believed in them because of her; the trauma to her body was more than anyone could endure, and the fact that she was still alive when they had found her was a miracle.

They had said she might never wake up. That it would take another miracle for her to open her eyes and once more rejoin the living.

It was a good thing Obi-Wan believed in miracles.

***

He was by her side when it happened: that tiny flicker beneath the lids that was the hallmark of a heavy sleeper returning to the surface of consciousness. He held his breath, hardly daring to believe, yet aching with certainty at the same time. As her eyes fluttered open to reveal her baby-blue eyes, his relaxed into a relieved smile, squeezing the hand that had been in his grasp for so long.

"Padme," he said softly, not wanting to startle her with the noise of speech.

His smile faltered as the look of sleep blinked into a look of confusion.

Her voice, rough from disuse, broke over the syllables, the words cutting through him in a terrible way: "Who are you?"

Meditations ~ Prompt #023

Title: Meditations
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala (in spirit)
Prompt: Lovers
Word Count: 722
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Obi-Wan finds out about Anakin's relationship with Padme in an unconventional way and he finds himself jealous, but for reasons no one would expect.
Author's Notes: Slashy implied-sex abounds. Not your thing, then move along. Nothing to see here. Also, I have discovered that certain people keep inspiring these crack-fics. You know who you are, and you're starting to scare me.

---------------------

It had been some time since he and Anakin had jointly meditated. As soon as the youth had reached the age of fifteen, he had insisted that he and Obi-Wan not meditate in such a manner, ever. The Master had his suspicions as to why this was, but he never really thought about them. The sentiment hurt, however, and Obi-Wan felt sadness for the loss of such closeness with his Padawan.

Now, almost ten years after Anakin had decreed that they should Meditate Alone, Obi-Wan found himself standing outside of Anakin's room in the Jedi Temple. He knocked tentatively and entered.

Anakin was sitting on the floor, wearing a simple tunic and trousers, not unlike the ones Obi-Wan wore. He smiled wryly as Obi-Wan sat in front of him, mimicking his position.

"Anakin," Obi-Wan said with a slight smile.

"Obi-Wan." Anakin took a deep breath. "It's been a long time."

"Yes, it has. Is everything okay?"

"Everything's fine," the young Knight grinned. "I leave for a long-term assignment in a couple of days. I just wanted to spend some time with you before I left. I thought we could meditate together, for old time's sake."

Obi-Wan chuckled. He merely nodded and both moved closer to the other and settled in. In tandem, they closed their eyes and sank into the calm centre that anchored them. They reached out for each other in the Force at the same instant, and fell into the familiar currents that they had not shared in over a decade. It was glorious to reconnect, the ache within each of them rapidly receding. Anakin couldn't believe how much he had missed this, how much he had cherished this simple communion with his former Master.

In this simple joy or reconnection, Anakin opened up more than he ever had for Obi-Wan, allowing the elder Jedi into parts of his being that had previously been off limits. Obi-Wan, in turn, did the same. The Jedi Master took great pleasure in swimming through his best friend's essence, letting the sensations wash over him like water cascading from a waterfall. His breath hitched, however, as he sensed something in those places, something that was not supposed to be a true part of any Jedi...

Love. And not just love, attachment.

...To someone else.

Being so entwined within the meditation, Anakin couldn't end it, couldn't knock Obi-Wan from his mind. He realized he had let him in too far and now the Master had sensed his deepest secret: His relationship with Padme Amidala.

Anakin Skywalker was the secret lover of the beautiful Senator from Naboo. And had been since they had reunited five years ago.

Obi-Wan reeled. Anakin and Padme? How could that be? How could he have missed it? Was he so blinded by his own feelings that he had chosen not to acknowledge what was now so obvious? He admitted that he was jealous. Jealous of a woman whom he had considered one of his closest friends. She and Anakin...my Anakin...

Obi-Wan's sudden lurch at this stunning revelation puzzled Anakin, and he reached out with a questioning tendril: Master, what's wrong?

The Knight frowned at the sensation that would be have been a sad, wide-eyed look in the physical realm, and he reached out to the Master even more. He felt the give of Obi-Wan's mind, as barriers came down between them and Obi-Wan returned Anakin's gesture of letting him in.

It was Anakin's turn to gasp, as he felt the pure warmth and love radiating from his friend. Warmth and love...for him. The feelings were staggering.

Obi-Wan? It was a pained question. But the pain was one of unfulfilled and repressed longing. Anakin reached out with a tentative tendril.

Anakin. He was met halfway and the two threads of the Force coalesced into representations of Master and Knight. The two fell together in a passionate embrace.

They kissed, touched, bonded...

All thoughts of Padme fled as Anakin and Obi-Wan caressed each other, the Force swirling around them, urging them together. The caressing merged into heavy petting, and finally into loving, sensual consummation.

As pleasure waxed the meditation broke, and Obi-Wan found himself entwined in Anakin's arms, their lips pressed together in an intimate kiss.

They smiled against each other's lips.

Padme wouldn't have to know.

Not now. Not ever.

Consummation ~ Prompt #038

Title: Consummation
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Padme Amidala/Obi-Wan Kenobi
Prompt: Touch
Word Count: 1298
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Obi-Wan and Padme can look, but they can't touch...or can they?
Author's Notes: This is a first draft and won't be posted to te actual community until I've had a chance to go over it. I'm only posting this because I know folks are waiting on me to do so.

<strike>...I'll be damned if I got my quotes right. Will let you know after I double check them.</strike> Consider myself damned. Spot on with one and so damn close it isn't funny with the other.

--------------

Obi-Wan Kenobi stood next to his master as elder Jedi explained to the Queen and her retinue how things stood on Naboo. As Qui-Gon, Sio Bibble and Captain Panaka squabbled over what to do, the young Padawan gazed at the Queen and her handmaidens.

Obi-Wan tried to catch each girl by the eye, but was met with feigned indifference and avoidance by all but one. Just as their eyes locked, the Queen turned to her and spoke. “Either option presents great danger, to us all.”

The object of Obi-Wan’s scrutiny looked up and said, “We are all brave, your highness.”

It was only by his Jedi training that Obi-Wan was able to hide his shock as the handmaiden smiled coyly and winked at him after she uttered these words.

~~~~
Padme Naberrie watched the young Jedi as he easily sliced through the droids that were holding the pilots captive. She admired his quiet strength and the calm with which he did he duty. He reminded her of herself in that regard, quiet strength and magnitudes of calm hidden behind the guise of a handmaiden.
She wanted to reach out and run her hand along the Jedi’s arms, to feel the taught muscles that were concealed beneath the cream fabric of his tunic. She wanted to divest him of the cloak he wore, so she could better watch the flow of his body as he slithered through his movements, cutting through the air as easily as a fish cut through water.
She wondered, as she fled up the ramp of the Royal Cruiser, what it would feel like to be held in those powerful arms, to hear that cultured voice utter her name as a caress. But, it couldn’t be, she knew, for he was Jedi and these pleasures were not allowed to them.
~~~~

Obi-Wan wanted to peel away the veil that hid the handmaiden’s hair, so he could experience the cascade of hair that he knew had to be concealed therein. He wanted to run his fingers through that silken mass and pull her close to him. He could almost imagine the feel of her slender body against his, almost imagine the taste of her mouth as he kissed her senseless.

He watched her from the shadows as she cleaned the small astromech droid, rolling her name around his head.

Padme.

It should be a prayer, he thought, only to be spoken with the utmost reverence and piety and passion. Any other use of that name should be considered sacrilege.

He watched her intently until the Gungan arrived and began speaking to her. With a final glance he headed back up to the bridge.

Jedi did not form attachments. And they sure as hell didn’t fall in love.

He sighed. Leave it to you, Kenobi, to do what you aren’t supposed to…

~~~~
Padme hurried after Qui-Gon as Panaka called after the Jedi. The frown upon her face wasn’t merely a ruse, but the result of her unfulfilled desire for the man’s apprentice.
She needed to leave his presence, or she feared she would do something that would get them both into trouble. With Master Jinn leaving the ship she knew that only the young Kenobi’s honour and control would stand between them and, if she had been reading his signs correctly, that honour and control would be pitched out the hatch and into the sand as soon as they were truly alone.
Oh, but she wanted it so bad. And so did he. She could tell.
~~~~

Was it him, or did the heat keep increasing on this blasted planet? She had left the ship, but he could taste her in the air, feel her in the things he touched…it was driving him mad, not being able to see her, yet being surrounded by her very essence. It caressed his skin, feather soft and teasing.

When he turned a corner, the sight of a retreating handmaiden would send his heart racing before he recalled that it wasn’t her. When he entered a room, he swore her scent invaded his nostrils. It was maddening.

And each time Qui-Gon called with an update, the simple knowledge that she was nearby made his chest tighten, his palms sweat, and he fought with his body to keep breathing at an even pace.

Once he had finished with the hyper-drive inspections and had found a modicum of control of his body and emotions, he had confined himself to the bridge. There, at least, he wouldn’t have to deal with her spectre.

~~~~
Padme closed her eyes as the realization that not even the Senate Arena could tear her thoughts away from the Jedi. Oh, but Obi-Wan’s memory enveloped her like a cloak, which she pulled closer to her as her pod moved out to take the floor.
It took great effort to concentrate on the plight of her people as Obi-Wan’s face swam before her. She wished that he were with her here, now, to hold her hand and lend her strength. It was a passing fancy that she knew would end up embarrassing them both if it ever came to ass, for one touch from him and the universe would melt away as she melted into his being.
She was away of her voice, as she went through her argument mechanically; the suggestion of her Senator seemed to be a grand idea, as her conscious-self allowed the subconscious to take over. At this point, anything that got them out of this arena sooner rather than later was something that she would allow.
She needed to get back to her private chambers. She had business to attend to…
~~~

Meditation, exercise, play, studying…nothing was helping to hold thoughts of Padme at bay. Irritation seemed to work well at hiding his growing level of discomfort, so irritation he wielded as he spoke to his Master about the boy.

His indignation at Qui-Gon’s request to train the boy was an automatic response; it appeared to be expected of him, since Qui-Gon had been Obi-Wan’s sole companion for so long. But really, he was beyond that, because there was Padme.

Right now, anything that gave him an excuse to be alone and seek solace from another was a good thing, and Obi-Wan was willing to take it where he found it. Besides, the sooner he got to see Padme again, the better…

~~~~
“Your honour…I am Queen Amidala. This is my decoy, my protection, my loyal bodyguard…” Sigh. Now she knew that she and her Jedi could never be together. Their chances for innocent indulgences had come and gone with her anonymity as a handmaiden; he would now be required to respect her station, and she would be required to respect his.
Oh, but it was sweet to think of, though. Padme knew that the memory of the young and brave Jedi Knight that had come to help her people would warm her through many lonely nights.
She contents herself and eases some of the ache within her by brushing past him one last time, shoulders touching for the briefest of moments, as they move off to make plans for this invasion.
~~~

As she reveals her true position, he smiles. Her coy little game when they first met made sense now. She was telling him to take her then, when he had the chance, and now all was lost.

As she brushes past him, an idea hits him. Maybe all is not lost…after all, if they are victorious, then he and Qui-Gon will be required to stay for an extra day or two. He looks down at her as she passes, moving so that she is forced to look up at him.

He smiles at her with that same secret smile she had used so many days ago and winks…

Fatherhood ~ Prompt #029

Title: Fatherhood
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Padme Amidala/Obi-Wan Kenobi; Cameo by Anakin Skywalker
Prompt: Birth
Word Count: 729
Rating: G
Summary: Obi-Wan is going to be a daddy. Fear <strike>for</strike> him.
Author's Note:

ObiWanKen5: *has actually been pondering what Obi would be like as a dad...*
Analise83: ROFL
ObiWanKen5: *thinks Obi would be worse than Anakin in regards to a pregnant Padme. He'd be too doting, Padme would kick him out of the house...*

-----------

"Obi-Wan, you know I love you, right?" He had nodded. Of course she loved him. And he loved her. "Then you won't take it the wrong way when I tell you to get out. Now. Please. You're driving me up the wall."

And that was how he had come to find himself standing outside the entryway of their shared quarters at 500 Republica, blinking like a dumb Rodian who has just been taken for all he had.

What did he do?

He had done nothing but cater to Padme's every wish, every desire since they had found out that she was pregnant. He had insisted on fluffing her pillow each night, tucking her in every time she lay down for a nap; bringing her her favourite tea when she wanted something hot to drink, fixing her every imaginable meal he could think of; he picked up gifts for her and the baby...

So what did he do?

"Master?" Anakin's voice caused Obi-Wan to jump. "Are you okay?"

Smoothing his uniform and straightening his robes, he smiled at his former Padawan. "I'm fine, Anakin."

"Good. I'm here to take you out for the afternoon. Padme's request."

Obi-Wan groaned. "Don't tell me she commed you just now?"

"Fifteen minutes ago. She said to expect you shortly. And she was right."

"Only because she kicked me out. I'm trying to figure out why."

"What did she say?"

Obi-Wan quickly related the brief conversation and Anakin started laughing. He pulled Obi-Wan down and out of the building, wiping tears from his eyes. "Master, you've been driving her nutty ever since you found out she was pregnant. At first, she welcomed it because she was scared, and it made her feel better, but now that she's almost due, she just can't take it any more."

They settled on a park bench somewhere between Padme's and the Temple. Anakin regarded Obi-Wan for a long moment, smile affixed on his face. "I should have warned her about your tendency to dote on people."

"I do not."

"Do to. Remember when I came down with the Nuna-pox...?"

"That hardly counts as 'doting'."

Anakin laughed. "Even after the fever broke and the purple spots went away, you insisted on sitting at my bed-side. I had to comm Master Windu while you were fixing lunch to save me."

"You little brat. You're the reason why I spent six hours in the most boring of lectures on the planetary rotation cycles of Coruscant and her moons and how they affected the galaxy?"

With an impish grin, Anakin nodded. "Yep."

************
DAYS LATER
************

Anakin and Obi-Wan were in the Healer's Ward Ante-Chamber. Obi-Wan had his hands tucked in his robe and was pacing; Anakin was sitting cross-legged on a cushioned chair watching. The younger man was almost mesmerized by the elder's walking back and forth and back and forth. Finally, he shook his head and blinked his eyes.

"Obi-Wan, sit down. When they're ready for you, they'll come get you."

As Obi-Wan threw a glare over his shoulder, the Healer-On-Duty laughed from her spot at the Administration Console. "Ah, young Anakin. You ought to know your old Master better than that."

At Anakin's raised brow, and Obi-Wan's horrified look, the Healer continued, "Yes, he's almost single-handedly put that rut in the floor, what from all the times he sat out here waiting for you."

Obi-Wan promptly sat in the nearest chair, muttering something that sounded like, "did not."

Anakin tried to hide his smile, but failed. "So he's done this before, Madam Healer?"

"Oh yes. I recall one mission you returned from when you had been rendered unconscious with sever head trauma. We had to kick Master Kenobi out of the Ante-Chamber about fifty times before he finally got upset with the staff."

Anakin's lips witched. "Master...got upset? With the staff?" He glanced at Obi-Wan. "My Master? Upset with Staff? Here, in the Temple?"

"Oh yes. Told us in no uncertain terms that he would stay here until we let him in to see you."

Obi-Wan's fierce blush was more than enough proof of the Healer's words. Anakin burst out laughing, and almost fell out of his chair.

The elder man was saved having to reply by the door opening. "Obi-Wan, your wife is asking for you. It's time..."

Obi-Wan fairly flew into the room, which only made Anakin laugh harder.

Into Motion ~ Prompt #028

Title: Into Motion
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Obi-Wan Kenobi/Padme Amidala, with a cameo by Luke and Leia. ph34r.
Prompt: Children
Word Count: 940
Rating: PG
Summary: Little Luke and Leia have decided that Mommy and Uncle Obawan should get married.
Author's Notes: One day, Ana and Mir decided that Anakin Skywalker and Kitty Pryde should Be Together. This spawned an AU of DOOOOOOOM™. Then, they pulled poor Nic and her dear Obi-Wan into it and one day, they had this RP. See Nic change it around to fit her fanfic100 challenge.

*************************

It was four years now, since the end of the Clone Wars and the rise of the Empire. Obi-Wan had been too busy aiding a very pregnant Padme Amidala-Skywalker flee the dying Republic as Anakin, now Darth Vader, trampled all over the Jedi and, as a consequence, his former Padawan and friend had gotten away unscathed. Only Yoda managed to escape with them, and had requested to be left on Dagobah to hide himself. Yoda had promised to return when the hope of the galaxy, Padme's children, were old enough to begin training.

Obi-Wan and Padme had fled to Tatooine with the newborn twins to live near Anakin's relatives. Padme and the children shared a homestead, while Obi-Wan lived nearby in his own little hut. He was close enough to be instantly available if anything went wrong, yet far enough away for the family to have some privacy. When the latent Force-abilities of the twins had begun to emerge, Obi-Wan began to teach them how to control and hide their skills. While his reasons for doing so made little sense to them, they understood that they were never to let on how different they were outside of the homestead.

And thus, the years passed.

Tonight, Obi-Wan and Padme sat on the couch watching the Imperial HoloNet. Even though Obi-Wan was able to get more accurate news from the back alleys in Mos Eisley they felt it was good to know what the Empire was saying, just to be prepared. Especially since Anakin was now one of the most feared Sith Lords in the galaxy. His handsome features popped up now and again, as some announcement of rooting out and trampling the threatening seeds of rebellion was made. They often sat close together during these times, as they clung to the memories that haunted each of them, and tonight was no different.

Little did they know that a very curious youngling, who had been thinking far too much for someone his size, was watching them...

Luke was on the other side of the room, playing with his toy speeder, vrooming it around the little obstacle course he had made. He glanced at the grown-ups, struck by the fact that once more, they were sitting Very Close. His speeder was forgotten as he sat back on his heels, watching Obi-Wan and Padme. Uncle Obawan - as little Luke had dubbed him and Leia, as the youngsters had trouble pronouncing his name - was always here at their house, instead his. And he and mommy always sat close like that...but they weren't married.

As far as Luke knew, only married people lived in the same house and sat that close together lots. So why aren't they married? He scrunched his face up thoughtfully, a look that was vaguely reminiscent of Anakin. "They should be married."

He didn't realize that this had been said out loud. At least, not until a passing Leia stopped, gave him a Look, and then followed his gaze to the couch. She thought about it, coming to the same conclusion. "Uh, huh."

Luke looked up at his sister. She sat next to him and they both stared at mommy and Uncle Obawan. "They act like they're married..." Luke started.

"...So why aren't they married?" Leia finished. This, is a Very Good question.

"Maybe she's already married?"

"To who? I don't see anyone else here. Do you?"

"Nope. I mean, if she is married to someone else, then he isn't a very good daddy. He's never here!"

"But mommy said that daddy is sick..."

"But Uncle Obawan isn't. And he does all the daddy stuff already!"

"Yep. He does. And he makes mommy smile. He definitely sounds like a daddy."

"Well, then it's settled. They should get married."

Leia looked at Luke. "How do we tell them that?"

"...I don't know." Luke frowned.

"We could...um...no, that wouldn't work. How about...how about we tell Threepio? He could tell them!" Leia said triumphantly.

Luke shook his head. "No. Threepio would tell them we told him to say it."

The twins fell into silence, the problem looking quite unsolvable, thank-you-very-much.

Luke's eyes lit up. "Ooooh. Arfour and Artoo! We could tell them! The love gossip and they would pass it on to Threepio! Then they could argue about it in front of mommy and Uncle Obawan."

Leia was slightly irritated by her brother's stellar idea. She was usually the one that came up with them. How he got this good, she'd never know. But it was an idea! And yay idea!

The two tip-toed past mommy and soon-to-be-daddy Obawan, heading for the garage area. Artoo and Arfour were tweaking mommy's speeder when the twins casually entered.

"Hey, guys!" Leia called, bouncing. "We have news!"

Both astormechs tooted happily. They loved news!

Luke beamed. "We've just discovered that mommy and Obawan are married and don't know it."

Arfour bleeps negatively. No, child, they aren't married.

Leia shakes her head. "No, you're right. But they should be!"

"Yep! Uncle Obawan already does he jobs that a daddy would do, and mommy seems to like him..."

Artoo beeps. They're right, Arfour. Mistress Padme and Obi-Wan are quite fond of each other. You'd think they'd get it!

Even so, Master Obi-Wan isn't...

Who cares if he is or isn't. Mistress Padme doesn't seem to be inclined to acknowledge her marital ties, so why shouldn't they?

Luke and Leia watch in glee as the two astromechs roll out of the garage and towards the house, bickering about the subject as only astromechs can. Now, all they have to do is wait! They'll get to Threepio eventually...

...to be continued

Be Thou My Vision - Dark Side ~ Prompt #074

Title: Be Thou My Vision - Dark Side
Fandom: Star Wars
Characters: Padme Amidala/Obi-Wan Kenobi
Prompt: Dark
Word Count: 787 (minus lyrics)
Rating: PG
Summary: Obi-Wan is fighting against the Darkness within and Padme is his only hope of salvation.
Author's Notes: <strike>I had iTunes on shuffle and this song came up. Coupled with the idea in my head, I had to go songfic on this one. Lyrics are public domain as far as I know, so I'm not trampling over anyone's rights.</strike> I've been wanting to write a Dark!Obi and Dark!Padme fic ever since she started RPing with my Sith!Obi in otherways. I thought it would be interesting if I did a two-sides-of-the-same-cooin thing with these two prompts.

----------

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

He had done it. The Forbidden. He had Fallen and it was empowering his soul. He was dimly aware of the voices around him, screaming for restraint and more re-enforcements. He wasn't sure why, for locked in his own mind as he was, he was only aware that he was so close to defeating the Light.

This is the soul of a Sith: When locked in an eternal battle with its complete opposite, it surrounds and swarms, attacking the core of the Jedi it used to be. The disadvantage of being completely surrounded by Darkness spells certain defeat, and it is by cutting off even the tiniest tendril of Light that its victory is secured. For once it breaks through, it connects with that one throbbing beacon of Dark and with renewed strength it whispers the word that belongs to its saviour, brandishing it like the talisman that it has become.

Padme.

For Padme has vowed to be his forever no matter what the consequences, because that pureness of spirit that speaks to his own relentless soul should have a companion in the galaxy always.

Be Thou my Wisdom, Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee, Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

The merging of souls in the Force is something that is never spoken about with the Jedi. This, the greatest of all forms of attachment, scares them, but only because they fail to understand the strength that can flow from one's devotion to another. They see it as a hindrance to their need of self-denial and sole devotion to the Force.

The Sith have no such reservations. It is through attachment that they find their true calling. Devotion to their Master and following his commands is greatness, which leads to knowledge, which leads to the means of the greatest glory of all: learning how to kill your Master and take his place. So it is that both Sith and Senator understand that together they can overthrow the one who has started Obi-Wan on this path.

And once Obi-Wan learns all that he can, he will not take a new apprentice, but take a wife who will never know the extent of knowledge that her husband does, and together they will found a new Sith Empire. They will be all things and all things will be them.

Be Thou my battle-shield, sword for my fight,
Be Thou my dignity, Thou my delight.
Thou my soul's shelter, Thou my high tower.
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

This is Obi-Wan locked in himself: He is closing in on the weakness that infuriates his spirit. His strength grows as it batters the Jedi that dwells within. As the walls of Light crumble beneath the onslaught he reaches for all his might to find his soul mate, the one who holds the strength of his heart. With a surge of power he feels the reciprocation of love and belief in the Sith that he is. Because what he needs right now is not the strength to fight, but the affirmation that he is Sith and that he is accepted as such and that affirmation from this one person is all he needs to kick down barriers and slay the filth within.

Padme is now a prayer that is lifted to the Force, the solemn oath he swears to win and be one with the Darkness. Let this be his time to join the Sith and he knows that Padme will live joyously with the knowledge that he had fought and won this battle of wills.

Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

A Sith is selfish; a Sith upholds the laws and regulations for the Master which he or she serves. But ultimately a Sith serves the himself first and foremost, for it is the himself that breaths Darkness into all things. Nothing tears away the Sith from his true Master, and no Sith renounces the gifts given to him unless the he allows it. By the demands placed upon them, the Sith must be on guard for treachery within their own hearts an within the ranks of those that serve them.

She knows that she belongs to him first and to herself second. She too understands how regard for the self is important, so she understands the need for priorities. If duty conflicted with her desires, she'd choose her desires. She knew it was the same with her Love and that if it came to it, he would choose the Sith over her; she would choose to be expendable to him and only him.

Without whole-hearted service to one's station, there could be no power, no order, no strength.

High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven's joys, O bright heav'ns Son!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my vision, O ruler of all.

With Sith and Senator entwined, he demolishes the light, banishing it from his soul and falling into her. He pulls her being into his and together they join for all eternity. They are wrapped in the power of the Dark side as victory is granted and they rejoice in the wholeness and pureness of each other, consumed together forever and always.
